Welcome to Village Paws of New Longton!
We are committed to providing professional and personal care to
your beloved four legged friends.
Based in New Longton, we offer VIP puppy classes, YOUNG PAWS classes and 1 to 1 training packages in New Longton and the surrounding areas, including Longton, Hutton and Walmer Bridge.
All of our classes and training packages are 100% family friendly, force free, ethical and FUN!

Laura
As a child we always had dogs in the family, Candy and Sally the Chihuahua's, Shelly and Libby the Westies, Bonny the Boston Terrier alongside several cats, birds and fish! I began looking after dogs for friends and family members and over the years I have walked, trained and cared for many dogs of all shapes and sizes, which has led me to begin my journey as a professional dog trainer. In my early twenties I moved to New York and got my first dog as an adult, Harrie the Shih Tzu. Harrie lived a long and happy life of 16 years. At 4 years old she flew home with me to start her new life in England and lived happily ever after.
I am currently studying Level 3 Learning, Motivation and Reinforcement with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) along with Dogs and Children (Canine Principles) and have completed the following courses:

I am 7 years old and I love dogs! I like to read Easy Peasy Awesome Pawsome by Steve Mann because it helps me learn how to be a dog trainer and has loads of fun games. I love playing with my dog, but if she gets too excited, I know how to help her calm down.

I am a Border Terrier AND a Toy Poodle. My family say I am a PANDEMIC PUPPY and sometimes I need a bit of extra help because I get worried. I've learned to be happy on my own and I love it when Bobby plays with me. Woof!

VIP Puppy Class
Join the "VIP Puppy" class in February at New Longton Village Hall!
This 6 week course is suitable for vaccinated puppies (approx 12 weeks old) until they reach 6 moths. Starting on Friday 18th February at 6.30pm, the class will last for 45 minutes and run for 6 weeks.
You will learn:
- SAY MY NAME (name recognition)
- LOOK AT ME (eye contact)
- 4 PAWS ON THE FLOOR (prevent jumping up)
- BODY LANGUAGE (what am I telling you?)
- GOOD MANNERS (walk nicely on the lead, understand and respect other's and current dog laws)
- SOCIALISATION (It's not all party in the park!)
- ENRICHMENT (It's all about ME!)
- REDIRECTION (prevent puppy biting)
- DROP N' SWAP (a fun way to drop it)
You will get:- A WELCOME TREAT PACK
- WEEKLY HANDOUTS WITH TASKS (handy guide on what we did in class)
- A GRADUATION CERTIFICATE (for any puppies and children who complete the course)
- ONGOING SUPPORT VIA WHATSAPP (We have a dedicated private group for class attendees to share tips and progress)
Children are welcome and encouraged to attend classes and will receive their own handout after each class and a certificate upon completion!
£75 for a 6 week course with 50 minute classes. Includes handouts, welcome pack, certificates and further support.
YOUNG Paws Class
Join the "YOUNG PAWS" class in February at New Longton Village Hall!
This 6 week course is suitable for your "teenagers" from 6 months to 1-2 years of age (Doggies go through adolescence at different times, so contact us if you think your dog can benefit from this class) Starting on Friday 18th February at 7.30pm, the class will last for 50 minutes and run for 6 weeks.
You will learn:
- BODY LANGUAGE (recap the basics and add some further tips)
- GOOD MANNERS (Further work on loose lead walking and dog park etiquette)
- SOCIALISATION (how to socialise your adolescent dog)
- NOSEWORK (and forms of enrichment)
- RELAX (how to help settle in a specific place)
- GAMES & TRICKS (introducing some new tricks to get the whole family involved in training)
You will get:- A WELCOME TREAT PACK
- WEEKLY HANDOUTS WITH TASKS (handy guide on what we did in class)
- A GRADUATION CERTIFICATE (for any puppies and children who complete the course)
- ONGOING SUPPORT VIA WHATSAPP (We have a dedicated private group for class attendees to share tips and progress)
Children are welcome and encouraged to attend classes and will receive their own handout after each class and a certificate upon completion!
£75 for a 6 week course with 60 minute classes. Includes handouts, welcome pack, certificates and further support.
PAWS@Home Training Package
Book a bespoke and individual training package to suit your busy family lifestyle.
Not all dogs are suited to group classes, which is absolutely fine. We are pleased to offer the fully bespoke PAWS@Home service which includes the following:
(all in the comfort of your own home)
- The Discovery Consultation (A 60 minute chat in person or via zoom to discuss your puppy, their routine, any problems you may be having and how we can help you all to get the most out of your time together)
- A Tailored Training Plan (Every dog and family are different so we will work with you to create a plan that meets your needs)
- 4 x 1 hour Training Sessions (Scheduled weekly in your home, or local park if more convenient) We can cover the following areas and more if required:
Biting
Chewing
Jumping up
Toilet training
Feeding
Exercise and routine
- Whatsapp Support (If you need help outside of training sessions, we have a support group which is monitored during working hours)
Children are encouraged to get involved with training (under close adult supervision) and will receive their own handouts and a certificate upon completion of the package!£160 for the initial 1 month package with an option to continue training further if needed at a reduced rate.Includes hand outs, welcome pack, certificates and further support.
PAWS PATROL Training Walks
Your dog collected from home and walked in the local area. We will visit local parks, wooded areas and fields. During the walk we will work on good lead manners, how to politely meet another dog, learning not to jump up and coming back when called (recall)
£25 per hour or £90 per month (1 walk each week)Includes hand outs on what we have covered and a monthly report. It is essential that the first session is completed with the dogs owner present.
Solo Walk - NOW FULLY BOOKED
Your dog collected from home and walked in the local area. We will visit local parks, wooded areas and fields or pavement walks if your dogs is uncomfortable around others.
The purpose of the walk is exercise and enrichment, allowing you peace of mind that your dog is content whilst you are at work.
£15 per hour or £9 per half hour
Puppy Visits - NOW FULLY BOOKED
We will visit your puppy at home whilst they are waiting to complete the vaccination period We will feed them, check their water, clean up any accidents, change puppy pads and let them out to the toilet to encourage positive toilet training. Most importantly we’ll provide plenty of cuddles and play!

Terms and Conditions – VIP and YOUNG Paws classes, PAWS@Home Training Package

Please note that payment for services also implies full agreement with these Terms and Conditions.
General Terms
All class bookings are non refundable, upon acceptance of the terms and conditions.
Cancellations must be received before 72 hours of the first class in order for an alternative to be offered.
Village Paws reserves the right to cancel the contract (at any time & with immediate effect) if any dog/s under the contract do not respond well to the class environment and/or other dogs (where the continuing of said contract is deemed, by Village Paws, to constitute a risk).
Our methods are all kind and effective however are never instant and take commitment from the client to work with their dog in the long-term.
I agree not to use aversive tools (choke chains, anti-pull harnesses, spray collars, prong
collars, e-collars, rattle cans, water sprays etc) while undertaking any form of training.
All dogs that are known to bite other dogs or cause injury must not attend a group class. Please contact us immediately if this is the case to book a private 1 to 1 session.
Village Paws is insured with Protectivity, however any accident or injury during our training
session will not be covered if you have failed to use the appropriate equipment or failed to follow the advice of the trainer.
Temporary COVID 19 measures
The number of people permitted to attend sessions will be in line with current Government
guidelines.
If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, if you are waiting on the results of a
COVID-19 test or have been asked to self isolate please do not attend your session.

Village Paws will not disclose, share, sell or rent any personal information Village Paws holds
about you. without your consent or are required by law to do so. Where Village Paws have
outsourced a function or activity. to an external service provider, we will only disclose personal information that the service provider needs to undertake that function or activity. We will require external service providers to enter into confidentiality agreements, prohibiting them from using or disclosing personal information, for any purpose other than to carry out the function or activity for which they are engaged.
The quality, accuracy and correction of personal information we hold
Protecting personal information is a priority and Village Paws always considers security and
confidentiality when handling personal information. It is important that the information we
maintain and use is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If at any time your personal details
change, please let us know so we can update our records.

We respect your right to access personal information Village Paws hold about you. You may
request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act (1998). If you believe that any information, we are holding on you is incorrect, please follow the contact details in the further information section.

Village Paws are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. Village Paws takes

All data and laptops are kept in a secure locker and laptops are password protected.
